5 Highlights Of Our Discover Australia Tour

The Discover Australia tour is great for travellers who want to see the best of this vast country. Journeying from either Perth or Brisbane (depending on whether you choose the 15 or 20-day itinerary) to Sydney, with many interesting stops on the way, you will experience some of the major sights and attractions that bring millions of tourists to Australia every year.

Uluru (Ayers Rock)

Although situated in one of the most remote parts of Australia, Ayers Rock, or Uluru to give it its aboriginal name, still manages to attract close to half a million visitors every year. You will spend two full days here at the start of your tour, watching the sun rise and set over this spectacular landscape and learning about the indigenous rock art sites in the area. As well as exploring the rock domes of Kata Tjuta, there is the chance to dine on traditional delicacies under the clear night’s sky.

Great Barrier Reef

Nature fans will love the chance to dive into a whole host of activities in the world’s largest coral reef. You will spend the day at an exciting activities platform, which allows you to interact with the animals living within this ecosystem in a variety of different ways. There’s snorkelling, submersible and glass bottom boat tours, and an underwater observatory to wander through. Skyrail Rainforest Cableway

During your time in Cairns, you will be given quite a bit of free time to discover the surrounding area. One of the most popular attractions in this part of Queensland is the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. This extended cable car journey takes you just metres above the tree tops and down beneath the layers of leaves to the rainforest floor. A round-trip takes two and a half hours in total and there are even pods which offer breathtaking views through a glass panel in the bottom. Please note, admission fees are not included in the tour.

Penguin Parade

One of the optional excursions offered in Melbourne is a trip to Philip Island to watch the penguin parade. This regular spectacle attracts large crowds and is definitely something to add to your must-do list during your Australia tour. Throughout the day, you can learn about the resident penguins in the visitors centre or stroll along the beach in an attempt to spot seals and whales frolicking off the coast. Then, as the sun begins to set, it’s time to take your seat and watch the cute and cuddly penguins returning to their beach burrows after a day of swimming and fishing.

Sydney Harbour Cruise

Of all the iconic places in Australia, Sydney harbour is one of the most recognisable. And, whilst the views are great from the bridge and outside the opera house, the best vantage point is from a cruise ship as you sail through the harbour’s waters. Climb aboard and end the holiday of a lifetime on a high.
