Asia

Asia is the largest continent on earth, so it should come as no surprise that it is also home to a huge range of diverse cultures, environments and history. The difficulty comes in trying to summarise Asia in its entirety, with an area that stretches east as far as Japan, as far south as Indonesia and as far west as Turkey.

There are a few things that can tie all the different areas together, though. Food is a big part of life in Asia, resulting in a myriad of rich, vibrant deep flavours that somehow still seem to differ from country to country and which are individual to each nation.

Religion plays a major role here too. From the banks of the Ganges to the temples of Myanmar; Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists and followers of other beliefs celebrate their deities with monuments, architecture and festivals. Over the years, this has resulted in fascinating history and culture across the whole of the region, with Asia being home to many of the world’s greatest wonders. The Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal and Angkor Wat are seen as just a few examples.

But a trip to Asia is not just about journeying into the past. Countries such as China and Japan are forging ahead in creating new technologies for the future. A new wave of megacities that feature bullet trains, robotics and cutting-edge architecture have resulted in a way of life that is significantly more advanced than what we are used to and which is oozing with unique experiences.

You can learn about the culture and history of a specific region of Asia with a land-based tour available with TravelQuest. Alternatively, you can enjoy a taste of this diverse region on a luxury cruise, waking up to a new and exotic destination each morning.
