A Moment In Morocco

Louise Westgate, Assistant Manager at Travel Quest (our Woodbridge travel agents), took a short break to Morocco. Here is a summary of what she got up to; complete with the highlights of this short but sweet trip…

Destination: Morocco
Operator/Host: ClubMed
Accommodation
(Hotel names/Ship name):
Club Med Yasmina
Airline: Royal Air Maroc
Duration: 2 Nights

Flights

I was impressed with the generous seat space and legroom that we got with Royal Air Maroc. There was no in-flight entertainment, but the meal provided was good. Flying time from London Heathrow to Tangiers airport is roughly two and a half hours.

Accommodation

The transfer from Tangiers airport to Club Med Yasmina is approximately one and a half hours, but we were greeted on arrival by some very welcoming Club Med staff, with a nice refreshing fruit juice.

The hotel is low rise and has a very light and airy feel about it. The rooms are spread over the resort’s 17 hectares of pretty jasmine and oleander gardens. Yasmina has recently been refurbished, however, some rooms had yet to be completed whilst we were there. I stayed in a refurbished deluxe room and it really was fabulous. It had everything you would need including a mini bar, kettle, tea and coffee, iron, safe, dressing gown and slippers, bottles of water replaced every day and air con. It was very spacious with beautiful decor.

It is an all-inclusive resort which is fantastic for families. They offer excellent children’s clubs such as Club Med Baby age 4 months +, Mini Club Med age 4-10 years and Club Med passworld age 11-17 years which are included in the holiday price. The children participate in various activities ranging from Archery to Circus activities. Club Med also offer a special early dinner time in the restaurant for children and parents can arrange babysitting or attendance to the pyjamas club, but these are charged locally. Club Med also guarantee interconnecting rooms for large families and groups.

Yasmina resort is fantastic for sports lovers. All sports are included in the cost of the holiday and there is so much to do including archery, Club Med fitness, tennis, golf (green fees payable when booking), flying trapeze, circus activities, yoga and water sports.

The buffet restaurants for lunch and dinner offer the most wonderful choice of food. There are various food stations such as Italian, fresh seafood, salads and meats and there is certainly something for everyone’s taste. The food really is excellent at Club Med.

Excursions

During the trip, we went on a visit to Tetouan, which has an Old Spanish area with a Royal Palace Medina and Souks. Tetouan is only about 30 minutes from Yasmina and is certainly worth a visit to see a real local market with very few tourists.

Trip Highlights

The hotel facilities, the good food and the sunny weather were all highlights of this trip.

Possible Improvements

The only thing that could put people off this hotel is that Club Med is a French-speaking resort and the entertainment is all in French.

Recommendations

This resort is great value for money with all sports, food and drinks included. I would definitely recommend this trip as the quality of the hotel complex is excellent.

Must see? Club Med evening entertainment (in French)
Must do? Trip to Tetouan
Must try? Flying Trapeze
