Senior Retail Consultant at our Woodbridge travel agents, Belinda Jessup, spent two days at the beautiful La Manga Club Resort in Murcia, Spain. Read what she thought of this wonderful resort in her own words…
Destination: La Manga, Spain
Operator/Host: Prestige Holidays
Accommodation
(Hotel names/Ship name): Las Lomas Apartments – La Manga Club Resort
Airline: easyJet
Duration: 2 Nights
My easyJet flight left on time and the flight took only 2 hours and 20 minutes. Boarding was made very simple by just having hand luggage, but they were very strict on people having just the one piece; making me put my very small shoulder bag into my cabin bag to ensure I didn’t have two.
The in-flight on short trips is always a bit hectic as cabin staff try to feed and water everyone in the limited time and then sell goods on the return.
La Manga Club Resort comprises of four types of accommodation. The first of these, Las Lomas apartments, are set high on one side of the valley with lovely views and either have one, two or three bedrooms with a lounge and kitchen.
Las Lomas Village is a more traditional town with houses that are all very individual. Again the accommodation consisted of one, two or three bedroomed apartments, most with spiral stairs, which overlooked the valley and the small lanes of the man-made village.
The 5 star Club Principe Felipe Hotel is situated in the valley and overlooks the lovely golf courses. It is low rise and has mainly twin and double bedded rooms, a beautiful restaurant and several bars. The resort also has private villas on the other side of the valley which are managed separately.
La Manga Resort has many sporting facilities – 3 championship golf courses, an 18 hole pitch and putt, a golf academy, a 28-court multi-surface tennis centre and academy, 2 cricket grounds, a professional football centre and 8 pitches.
We only had one day to look around the resort which included an exploration of the children’s club, golf club, tennis club and academy.
There is a small private beach over a rough coastal road, but the resort does have several pools and sun areas if the beach isn’t really your thing. We all had a spa treatment in the fantastic spa which occupies an impressive position high up on the hillside and dominates the resort.
We were treated to lovely meals – one of which was in the Italian restaurant in the Las Lomas ‘Village’, Luigi’s. Another restaurant, called ‘Fusion’, was situated in the man-made centre with various shops and restaurants and incorporated lots of different Far Eastern delights!
The general setting was stunning and the views across the valley, out to the sea on the horizon, were amazing.
I don’t think it’s particularly clear what the golf and tennis costs are as there are different packages for these and all different standards. Therefore if you know you would like to play a game or two whilst you are there, it would be a good idea to ask a member of our team to enquire directly.
This type of holiday is very suitable for people who want a relaxing break that also involves playing a bit of golf or tennis. I would definitely recommend it to groups wanting a golfing holiday, but also to couples who want lovely surroundings with a bit of sport included. However, sporty families would also enjoy!
This is a great place for a short or long break and, with flights into Murcia on a regular basis, it’s very conveniently accessible from Gatwick.
Must see? The Spa
Must do? The drive over the ‘mountain’ to the ‘beach’!
Must try? Jager bombs in Mulligans Bar!
