Brazil

Brazil is home to a tropical paradise of glorious golden beaches and a lush green rainforest that stretches far beyond the horizon. In fact, the Amazon rainforest covers seven million square kilometres, making it the largest and most biodiverse rainforest in the world.

As well as this lush green abyss, Brazil has much more to offer. If you travel to the west of Brazil, close to the borders of Paraguay and Bolivia, you will be able to experience the Pantanal wetlands – the largest wetland area in the world. From here, it is possible to witness giant anteaters and giant river otters. The main thing to look out for, however, is the elusive jaguar and there are plenty of safari opportunities that will enable you to witness these predators.

Travel into mainland Brazil and you will be able to explore Brazil’s sparkling diamond deposits, which were discovered in 1842. The Chapada Diamantina National Park, in the state of Bahia, is dominated by rising flat top mesas, glistening waterfalls and expansive canyons. As you journey through a region that was once a hub of mining activity, you will uncover a history that spans three continents. Although this remote mountainous area is little known, a visit will be one you will never forget.

As one of the most iconic cities in the world, Rio de Janeiro is a common port on cruise itineraries in this part of the world.
