Many travellers only visit Ecuador as the gateway to the otherworldly landscapes of the Galapagos Islands. However, the country has some excellent adventure opportunities in its own right, including the chance to climb volcanoes, hike on glaciers and discover towns like World Heritage listed Quito.
On one of our most challenging tours, you will spend your time preparing to reach the summit of the world’s second tallest active volcano. Cotopaxi features demanding terrains, with much of the climb being on a steep, snowy incline. However, the views from the top are well worth the energy expended to get there.
For a more leisurely tour of Ecuador, you can trek through the Andes, touching the edge of the Amazon Rainforest along the way. This includes many wildlife viewing opportunities at the Bellavista Cloud Forest Reserve, Amazoonico Animal Rescue Centre and on a nocturnal walk through the rainforest itself. Plus, you’ll have a date with the devil as you visit the Devil’s Caldron waterfall and ride the railway around the Devil’s Nose rock face. Additionally, you will see that the ancient Inca civilisation was not just limited to Peru. The ruins and solar observatory at Ingapirca give testament to the fact that their empire was present right along the Andes in Ecuador, Columbia and Chile as well.
Some of our tours allow you to see many South American highlights in one trip, visiting Argentina, Brazil and Peru along with Ecuador.
